Our story

Two builders, joining forces.

The market is tough, and clients are right to look hard at who they trust with their money. A builder working alone carries every risk on one set of shoulders. So we decided we would be better together.

Bettertogether.

Mike brings 24 years of high-end building and fire compliance from Sydney and Auckland. Derek brings 35 years on commercial, multi-unit and high-end projects here and in Europe. Together we share our knowledge, our subcontractors, our suppliers and our standards.

The directors

Two careers. One standard.

You deal with the directors themselves. Between them they have built waterfront homes, apartments, retirement villages, hospitals and commercial high-rise, and they lead every project personally.

Our team

Two teams, merging.

When two building companies become one, you get more than two directors. You get both crews, both sets of trusted subcontractors and both supply chains, built up over many years.

=One team.

Mike's crew and Derek's crew have each spent years working together on their own sites, with their own site foremen, carpenters and apprentices. Now they work side by side as one Lindsay & Armstrong team.

That means more experienced hands on your job, more site leadership, and the capacity to take on larger projects without bringing in strangers.

Site leadershipSenior site foremen from both businesses, with up to 30 years on the tools.
Our own crewsCarpenters, builders and apprentices trained in-house, not labour hire.
More capacityTwo crews let us run trades in parallel and keep your programme moving.
The same facesThe people who start your job are the people who finish it.

Two supply chains, pulled together.

We each bring the subcontractors and suppliers we have relied on for years. They know how we run a site and what we expect.

Long-standing partners include Kitchen Dynamics for kitchen design and manufacture and Plumbing 360 for plumbing and gas.

More proven tradesTwo established networks of subcontractors, so the right specialist is ready when your programme needs them.
Stronger with suppliersCombined accounts and volume give us more buying power, better priority on deliveries and quicker answers.
Cover when it countsIf a trade is held up or a material is late, we have a second proven option ready.
No strangers on siteEvery trade on your job has already worked to our standard on our own projects.
Our quality promise

Built right, and guaranteed.

Quality is built in on site, not checked at the end. Good quality control is what makes the quality assurance file worth having.

Step one

Quality control

Every stage is inspected by a licensed builder before it is covered up, and every inspection is recorded with photos. Nothing is assumed.

287point quality checklist used throughout every build
Step two

Quality assurance

Those records become your quality assurance file: inspections, producer statements, warranties and as-builts, handed over with your Code Compliance Certificate. Fully insured for public liability and contract works throughout.

Stamford building warranty

Your building, insured for ten years.

We protect our clients with a 10-year Stamford building warranty, underwritten at Lloyd's of London, the most recognised insurance market in the world. If a defect appears, the insurer pays for the repair. No one has to prove who was at fault.

  • All defects covered for the first two years
  • Major defects covered for a further eight
  • Covers design, materials and workmanship
  • Passes to new owners if you sell
Licensed Building Practitioners

Both directors fully licensed.

Mike holds LBP Carpentry and a New South Wales builder's licence. Derek holds LBP Carpentry and Site 1. Restricted building work is done or supervised by a licensed director, with a record of work at the end.

How we work

Clear from day one.

Most building projects don't go wrong on site. They go wrong in how the job is run. This is how we run yours.

1

Understand

We start on site with you: what you want to achieve, how the space must work and the limits we have to plan around.

2

Plan and price

We review the design for buildability and price it line by line, with a clear scope, cost and timeline before any work begins.

3

Build with control

A full-time site lead, the right trades at the right time, and staged inspections against our 287-point checklist.

4

Keep you informed

Weekly updates on progress, budget and what is coming next, with photos and records you can see at any time.

5

Hand over

Final inspections, Code Compliance Certificate, warranties and your quality assurance file, delivered with the keys.
